With this last tea towel I found out that designing on black is actually not easy at all! The contrast is high, and because of that small and complicated patterns will hurt your eyes. I had a hard time designing a print that didn't make me feel dizzy looking at it. I had to find something with simple lines, preferably something from a veggie garden and I found...a bean stake!
I am happy with this second black tea towel called BEANS, it's lovely and graphic and you won't see any stain on it after drying the spaghetti-sauce pan!
My tea towels carry the GOTS organic logo and the Fairtrade label! These aren’t just any old pictograms. The entire chain – from the seed to the stitching done in the factory – meets the strict organic and fair-trade requirements.
Somehow black in fabric influences the absorbtion a bit, so - other that the white ones - the black tea towels should be washed a couple of times before they dry well. Great thing is: the black does NOT fade at all! Because I was afraid of that, I had the manufacturer do 24 laundry tests and the results were amazing: pitch black!
Tea towel BEANS - measurements are 50 x 70 cm, price € 12,75

and more new stuff: TWIG leaves spring version!

After the succes of the Twig leaves BLACK last winter I wanted to design a spring sister for this product.
It was around Christmas that I printed and cut at least 10 different spring wreaths in shades of greenish and blue-ish grey. I hung them on the wall, took pics and sent those to my assistent Kim for feedback. So happy to have her, she's such a great help, since this job can be so lonely at times!

For the definite colour I chose the most blue shade I found in the Pantone colour guide. I found out I like blue more than green, at least as a paper design on my wall. I had already orderered thousands of rolls of white wire instead of black, just to force myself in a certain soft/sweet/spring direction. This design had to be something really different!

From only one set of Twig Spring leaves and in less than 10 minutes you can create a stylish wreath and a long garland. Every paper leaf is pre-punched (easy to pop out of the card) and has slits to thread the white thin iron wire through.
Once threaded, go wild with the possibilities! Bend the wire into a circle and create a wreath, a heart, a large letter, or thread a long garland and hang it from the top of your highest cupboard.
Very stylish: a Twig garland as centre-piece of your festive dining table. And should you have some wire and leaves left over: turn a present into a gift nobody will want to open, it looks so good…

Twig Spring Leaves, 3 cards (A5 size) with 57 pre-punched leaves and 4 metres of wire in total. Dimensions of the leaves: between 2 and 3 cm.
Price  € 9,50 per package

I have a new fleet and I am so happy with it!
My first boats - Rite de Passage - were sold out (yay, all 7500 sets!) and I decided to give my initial idea/design of the floating light boats again a try...
I once dreamed of white boats, with a print in a rare kind of  'watermark' ink, that you can only see through when the candle inside is lit. Well, that ink is so rare it doesn't even exist, except in my own mind ;-).

So I had to find a die cut alternative. The first 5 die cuts that I designed were refused by the cutting company: too complicated, the machines wouldn't survive it! Laser cutting was out of the question: the boats would become far too expensive for my consumers!
I must say, it was a struggle finding a balance between estethics, cost price and also doabilty for the people who were going to buy them. But I managed to 'kill my darlings' and accepted to work with the given limits and impossibilities.
For that and for the result I feel proud! So here is: REJSE!
An enchanting spectacle: small, illuminated white boats finding their way across the dark water. Taking your wishes and thoughts away in the flow.
A few sets of floating light boats can turn the pond into a fairy tale at your garden party. Next to that Rejse boats are a meaningful gift to celebrate any big or small milestone in life.
You can write your wish/text along the railing and then fold the boat and the cabin in just a few minutes. Because they are initially flat, these boats make an ideal gift to send in the post (A4 envelope).

CONTENT: 1 package contains 3 boats and 3 cabins (and 'lining' paper strips) and a clear instruction.
Measurements of boat: unfolded 24.5 cm x 15.5 cm | folded 18 cm x 10 cm

PRICE: € 10,25 per package

INSTRUCTION VIDEO
You can find clear folding instructions in the package. Need some extra help? We have made an instruction video, check it out HERE!
ENVIRONMENT
Should you not be able to fish the boats out of the water after use: my boats are fully degradable in nature within 6 months. In comparison: normal balloons take 20 years to do the same! I do advise the use of beeswax tea-light candles, without aluminium cups.
CANDLES
PLEASE NOTE: candle lit boats should only sail on water both indoors and outdoors. And of course…never leave burning candles unattended!
The boats are also available in larger quantities (unpacked), please contact me for information.
